Exit Interview: Letter to My Coworkers

Dear WebiMax,

Last Friday I accepted a new position at Delphic Sage as Sr. Digital Marketing Specialist. In 2 weeks I’ll be leaving WebiMax to begin a new adventure, but I wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on my 2 years here. I’m giving myself an exit interview and I wanted to share it with you.

For dramatic effect, listen to Linkin Park’s My December while reading this. This is my December because it was my choice to turn the page and my choice to venture into the unknown.

If you’re expecting this to be negative in any way, I suggest you stop reading now. Ken Wisnefski and my coworkers at WebiMax have been nothing but supportive during my tenure here. While we may not agree on everything on the business side, I think we do agree on this: WebiMax does kick-ass SEO and will continue to do so.

Celebrate Every Victory

My goal for any position I take is to make a positive impact, which I feel I have. I’ve been called “the glue” here, but that’s simply not the case. There are so many talented people here who are crafting their own stories of success and I see great things in each of their futures. Every day a new team member does something remarkable and they should be celebrated.

Make a Difference

I’ve held a number of positions here at WebiMax and it all started by speaking up. Whenever I saw an opportunity to be better, I let the right people know. Things won’t change on their own and people won’t listen if you scream. If you truly want to make a difference, offer solutions to the problems you see and do so in a professional manner. Transform your office into the place you enjoy going to everyday by becoming the catalyst for positive change.

Support Your Team

It’s difficult to see a star that shines slightly brighter than others, but it’s easier if everyone is looking. Keep your eyes and ears open for the quiet superstars who are just waiting for their chance to impress. And trust me, you will be impressed.

Better Yourself

Congratulations to those who recently passed the GAIQ! I’m extremely proud and you should be too. Everything you do to improve your skills benefits you, your peers and especially your clients. Teach others what you want to learn and you will learn that much faster. Nothing is off-limits, so strive for the seemingly impossible.

Thank You

It’s been a pleasure working with you and thank you for making WebiMax a great place to work. Don’t think I’m going too far away, though. You know how I like to be involved in our industry’s fascinating community, so I’ll be following your stories as I write my own.

Sincerely,

Chris Countey

  13. Wouldn’t be an SEO at all if it weren’t for your encouragement and opening of doors. Wouldn’t be half the SEO I am today without your constant feedback and guidance. I truly hope you find what you’re looking for at Delphic. Best of luck!

  16. Sorry it took so long for me to leave a comment here! I am very happy and elated that you have made this career change. For many, the thought of leaving a job they have settled in is fearful (i.e. Nick E’s comment); they have even written books about it, (i.e. Who Moved My Cheese?). The fact that you were able to do this, just solidifies the strong, smart, and courageous personality you are. You have taught me many things about SEO, and I will always appreciate the knowledge you shared with me, as well as reminding me to just ‘Do it!’.
I know that you will be very successful with Delphic, and that they will be very happy that they have you on board! You are already very missed, and now someone else has to come to the office dressed as The Hulk on Halloween!!

I hope to see you at the meet-ups (with my purse full of technology) and at ‘the press’…keep in touch!

    • Thank you Candice, this is one of the nicest things anyone’s ever said to me. Keep doing what you’re doing and I hope your efforts don’t go unnoticed. I’ll be pushing for meetups out here in Manayunk, so stay tuned. :)
